Holding the position of technical director (or "head sound guy/gal") means you are tasked with leading your crew so they can create the best atmosphere for worship.  This means you lead by example, you lead by training, and you tend your flock. Tending can equal preventing burn-out, rewarding, and calling them to task.  But there is something else you should do as a leader that is equally important as all of those tasks.  You should bring up a protégé.  read more »

It doesn't matter if you head up the church a/v ministry or if you are a solo-flyer, you are seen as the person "IN CHARGE."  Doubt it?  Screw up during a church service and you'll hear about it.  If you head up a team and a member has a bad day behind the mixer, you'll hear about that as well.  If you are "IN CHARGE" then you are seen as a leader.
