Church Sound System and Church Audio
Review: Sennheiser ew112G2 Wireless System
Sennheiser wireless microphones have always been popular in the church community. Over the last few years, I've been fortunate to attend different churches and listen to different pastors and speakers. Typically, I see the wireless Sennheiser units sitting in the sound booth with their antenna pointing up to grab the incoming signals.
The Sennheiser ew112G2 ME2 Omni Lavaliere Microphone Wireless system uses an omni-directional lavaliere microphone (aka, the lapel microphone) that is clipped to the shirt or tie. The more expensive Sennheiser wireless systems use the headset style of microphone.
The ew112G2 as has a 150 foot range though I've heard it being used with a 300 foot range. It includes the SK 100 G2 bodypack transmitter, and includes the ME 2 clip-on microphone. It has four switchable presets (reprogrammable to 1440 available frequencies depending on availability) and variable-level 1/4" TS and XLR connectors.
The frequency ranges do include those in the 698-806 MHz range but also include those that are not, specifically 518-697 and 807-866 ranges.
The wireless body pack runs off 2 AA batteries for approximately 8 hours.
The receiver can be mounted in a rack system if needed.
Both the receiver and the transmitter have metal housings. Settings can be locked so accidental changes do not occur. Both the transmitter and receiver feature Low Battery indicators. There is also a Mute function for the transmitter.
Typically, a lavaliere microphone is thought of only for speaking. One user of this microphone said "I use it for even song-leading. The warm reproduction of vocals has been a wonderful surprise as I was not expecting that kind of clarity from a lavaliere condenser mic."
The Sennheiser ew112G2 ME2 Omni Lavaliere Microphone Wireless System is a great addition to any church that needs a new wireless microphone or wants to upgrade from an old one.
