Youth Bands – What Do You Do?

I'm running sound this Sunday and our youth team is performing all the music.  We have a guitar, bass, keyboard, and two singers.  One of the singers isn't a strong singer.  Usually I blend their voices.  I'm contemplating, for this Sunday, to bring the strong singer into more of a lead singer volume and push the softer to more of a background (with sight reverb effect) vocal.  I'll work this out during practice.

Blending the voices has always worked but for whatever reason, I'm just wondering if a new sound would be better if it would just emphasize the differences between the two singers.

I'm sure there is more than one way to do this.

How do you handle such vocal pairing?  I'd love to hear from you.

  1. I ended up blending the two.  It just sounded best that way.
