Are Active or Passive Speakers Right for Your Church – Episode 9

Topics: Equipment Usage, speakers By: Chris Huff October 26, 2017

Loudspeakers are available in active and passive models, but which is right for you?  Chris and Brian detail the differences between the two models, the advantages of each, and how a church sound system can benefit from either.  Powered and non-powered speakers have come a long way compared to fifteen years ago.  Chris and Brian also debate which is best.

I was hoping you would cover thoughts on Active vs. Passive “Subs” in an installed church of 250- 500.
We have flown our FOH mains which are passive but we are thinking of going with Active “under stage” subs simply because of the matched amp/speaker. I have already ran a fresh circuit for all of the sound so it’s clean, dedicated and on a switch. Thoughts???

It’s really a matter of personal preference. I’ve heard some great-sounding powered subs. Just make sure you turn them on and off every week.
